Efficient Implementation Methodologies
Our team of Microsoft Dynamics implementation specialists utilizes a unique implementation methodology which allows us the time to understand how each business operates and to provide a solution to best fit the needs of our clients.
The RSM implementation methodology consists of five phases that span the project lifecycle. These phases are consistent across all our engagements though the specific tasks and deliverables are dependent on the business objectives, project constraints and engagement scope. Project management stretches over all phases of the engagement to keep the project on schedule and provide quality assurance of the product delivered to the client.
- Phase 1 — Initiate
The Initiate phase is critical to the ultimate success of the project; during this time, we plan the implementation and ensure that all team members have a clear understanding of the project goals, expectations and timelines.
- Phase 2 — Analyze and Design
The Analyze and Design phase quickly follows the Initiate phase, typically happening on the same day as the Project Kickoff Meeting. During this phase, the RSM project team develops detailed insight into your organization’s needs and how the new system will be configured to best support them.
- Phase 3 — Build and Validate
Using the design document as a blueprint, configuration of the new system begins. A working model of the production system is prepared, and the process flows, data conversions, reports and customizations are tested.
- Phase 4 — Deploy
Once agreement is reached that the system is ready for deployment, the configuration is migrated to the production environment, end-user training is conducted and final Go-Live preparations are completed.
- Phase 5 — Operate
Once the system is operational for 30 days, a project closing process is completed to confirm that the application was delivered as expected and that the terms of the engagement were fulfilled.

CASE STUDY: Osmotica Pharmaceutical
As a US-based manufacturer of specialty pharmaceuticals, Osmotica Pharmaceutical implements Microsoft Dynamics AX for management of their global operations, including FDA compliance and consolidated reporting. With headquarters based in Wilmington, NC and operations in Marietta, GA, Buenos Aries, Argentina, and Budapest, Hungary, they were looking to move from a traditional model where each operation was accounted individually to a consolidated model where financial statements are readily available in real time and information is shared across locations. The availability of the system to perform seamlessly in a multi-language and multi-currency environment was a key factor in selecting Dynamics AX as the locations around the globe all compliment a single manufacturing process. Their implementation has allowed them to operate, report, and analyze their operation on a day-to-day basis rather than waiting for an end of the month reporting package to be developed.
Another concern was regulation and compliance. They had specific needs around the FDA Validation process on all aspects of the implementation, from the RSM-hosted server cluster to the installation of the software, to the implementation of each of the functional areas. Effective project management is critical to the success of any software implementation. Our project management practices focus on effective communication, issue management and risk management.
Periodic updates of the software will be provided through the vendor’s Enhancement Program. The updates incorporate new features and major enhancements to the application. Unique requests and specialized plans will be considered by RSM and the software vendor to provide you with a service and support plan that is tailored to suit your specific concerns.
RSM offers customized training. We will work with you to determine the appropriate training plan. Our goal is to educate your staff to the point where they are independently capable of operating the system on a daily basis. Training for staff in remote locations can be accommodated by on-site training, training in a RSM training facility or via an Internet connection (web meeting) for simple training needs.

Extending Microsoft Dynamics® AX with Accelerators
Multi Channel Retail Accelerator
Multi-channel retailers demand a robust enterprise software system that can successfully manage the entire spectrum of functions across the merchant’s operation. Multi Channel Retail Accelerator (MCR) is a powerful end-to-end integrated software solution developed to meet the evolving needs of multi-channel retailers. Built on the scalable, flexible and proven Microsoft Dynamics® AX platform, MCR delivers cross-channel order and inventory management and improves customer loyalty.
Take Advantage of New Features in AX 2012 R3
Warehouse Mobile Data Module will allow for radio frequency (RF) devices to display real-time transactions including: receiving, putting away, picking, staging, loading and cycle counting. Previously a third party ISV was required for this functionality to be deployed with a Microsoft Dynamics AX instance.
Transportation Management will include rate shopping capability as well as route and load planning. This functionality is imperative for distribution businesses to be competitive.
Omni-channel commerce and mobile retail management will include a Windows 8-based tablet Point of Sale (POS) solution that will provide customers and retailers a very unique shopping experience when deployed. Integration with online stores, loyalty programs and other features essential to a successful online shopping experience, will also be available in this release of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.
Demand Forecasting will also be a new feature in the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 release. This functionality will provide a lightweight but powerful demand planning tool that will allow users to forecast demand based on historical order data found in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 and then adjust the demand, and import the information into Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 forecast models. It will have a feature to disqualify outliers as well. Large one-time orders that would skew the forecast can be removed from the forecast with this feature.
The Application Lifecycle Management toolset has been improved in several areas including the Business Process Modeler as well as creating and managing support cases and providing the appropriate knowledge management article or hotfix.
Master Data Management functionality will help to keep data synchronized across multiple environments and manage conflicts as well as provide a batch scheduling execution engine for this functionality.
